The objective of Wholesale Data Management is to support the business in the collation and accurate representation of the GB and CMB client base for BFCR, finance, whole sale market risk and relationship management. Enabling the business to accurately and consistently manage their financial crime risks, profitability and growth. The team is an integral part of Wholesale CDAO

The Opportunity:

The purpose of Wholesale Data Management is to capture and maintain the data required by the GB and CMB Business to effectively manage client relationships from a commercial and risk perspective. The principle focus is to ensure data sources and processes are managed in order to ensure data integrity. In this context these sources and processes are those which impact the Wholesale Client Lists

Based on this context, the advertised role plays a key role in:

  • Lead WDM team based out of Kolkata
  • Ensure ownership, accountability and responsibility at functional level in Data Governance, Data Strategy, Data Quality, Data Management & Data Standards
  • Have clear and detailed understanding of the end to end service, product provisions, data processes and HSBC system data flows & Global Research
  • Provide support to the regional/global WDM customers and stakeholders within the remit of the approved WDM Service catalogue. Where deviations from the catalogue exist ensure that these are identified and communicated to the Global Management team for review
  • Develop / revise / reassess data remediation metrics and procedures for effective project delivery with reduced cost and sustainable quality
  • Take effective decisions and identify and resolve complex queries including stakeholder escalations
  • Lead and manage to take strategic decisions
  • Enable team to deliver expected results on set objectives via regular monitoring, guidance, training, coaching etc.
  • Initiate, conduct and own complex projects within WDM

Management of Risk

  • The job holder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the offshore team and inherent in the GBM business and HOST functions related to Global Standards and mandatory FIM requirements, taking into account changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings and impact of new technology.
  • This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring
  • Also by addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/ or the appropriate department

Observation of Internal Controls

  • The job holder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by internal BRCM/ GA teams and external regulators.
  • The job holder will implement the Group Compliance policy by continuing compliance risk in liaison with the relevant individuals. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
  • This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Lead & manage direct and Indirect reportees, developing, motivating and inspiring high-performance through a variety of interventions
  • Share best practice learning with wider team and seek continuous improvement opportunities
  • Work collaboratively across a range of teams fostering positive working behaviors
  • Sponsor training, skills development and other aspects of Wholesale in terms of the organization’s Data Strategy and vision.
  • Lead specific initiatives / project from offshore aimed at taking the data agenda forward.

What you’ll do:

This role is responsible & accountable for the successful delivery of the following areas:

  • To work collaboratively with Product owner and in gathering, translating and clarifying requirements and defining design options
  • Ensure all support, drive and collaborate with development/IT team to translate of business requirements and designs into more detailed functional requirements and work through to drive delivery
  • Lead, Drive and manage Implementation including planning, controlling and reporting on implementation of the change ‘product’, focusing on accelerating benefits and minimizing risk during deployment. Implementation activities will also include managing implementation readiness and managing the early stages of implementation
  • Experience of handling medium to large product related projects/work streams in terms of system implementation/alignment, requirement gathering, analyzing the requirements, drafting and finalizing BRD, working closely with the developers, perform UAT Testing etc.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams across WDM within and outside of base location to perform core day to day activities as well as identifying, understanding and communicating, issues or challenges which may occur and where possible recommending actions to manage or resolve
  • Take responsibility for identifying, understanding and communicating product development opportunities and associated business outcomes
  • Contribute to team development, effectiveness and success by sharing knowledge and best practice.
  • Assertively challenge and manage all stakeholders including Senior Managers in order to take action within a deadline
  • The individual will also continuously reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices and the impact of new technology
  • Lead, Drive and support data quality projects / initiatives and/ or statistical analysis within WDM
  • Understand the responsibilities of WDM and ensure that appropriate governance and controls are in place across data governance, privacy and quality disciplines
  • Understand the data, technical and business architecture strategies and ensure that WDM are compliant where possible and any deviation is documented and subject to the appropriate governance
  • Take ownership and coordination of TOM changes across WDM working with the appropriate Product Managers and ensuring appropriate process and controls are adopted and established within WDM and that handoffs and dependencies on other teams are understood and documented
  • Provide support to the Head of WDM and product Managers to coordinate and manage large scale deliveries which impact multiple products to ensure consistency and visibility of approach and solution design
Requirements

  • Overall working experience including team and/or process Management experience of 15+ years (E)
  • 10+ years of managing large and diverse teams with proven strong people management skills (E)
  • Extensive knowledge and hands on experience in working with Mastergroup Service, Client Data & Global data Research for 5-7 years (E)
  • Excellent Knowledge of client reference data, Mastergroup and HSBC System Data Flow (E)
  • Proven record of leading & managing Trusted System, Trusted Source Framework & Consumer onboarding (E)
  • Proven record of successfully managing and leading complex processes including BAU operations (E)
  • Minimum 8 years’ knowledge and experience on GCDU, ESR, BvD, HORIS, ISD, ERDS, CV/CME, MGS, AVOX (E)
  • Working experience in managing projects and work streams related to KYC and CDD (E)
  • Knowledge on Data Visualization Tools and Techniques (D)
  • Excellent working experience and understanding on projects in JIRA/GO JIRA, Confluence (E)
  • Strong hands on experience in Implementation and Delivery Management (E)
  • Proven working experience in managing regulatory and data quality project deliveries (E)
  • Project Management Skills, with prior experience in managing change, technology build and implementation/ integration (E)
  • Understanding on BRD, Product development, Testing & Product releases (D)
  • Proven experience in general data management and master data management (E)
  • Structured analytical problem-solving skills, able to breakdown complex problems and find solutions and options
  • Knowledge of business analysis, requirements engineering, product backlog management, structured analysis and process mapping & designing (E)

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Minimum Qualification: B. Com /B.Sc / BCA / B.Tech or equivalent degree (10+2+3)
  • Masters in Finance, MCA, MBA or any additional qualification in finance or banking would be preferred
  • Applicants must have successfully completed their probation period.
  • Employees must meet performance and behavioral standards as defined in the policy.
  • All L5/L4 applicants should have served at least 24 months and should have successfully completed respective learning curve tenure, in their current role as on closing date.
