Mommy and I is a Liberian start-up agribusiness that is involved in the production of quality and affordable white and parboiled rice targeting the people of Liberia and the neighboring countries Guinea and Sierra Leone. The farm is located in Bong County, Liberia.

As Head of Production, you will be responsible for general management and continuous improvement of all aspects of plant operations including safety, quality, and productivity. You will work closely with the production team to increase productivity and profitability within the manufacturing operation as well as oversee the inbound procurement and logistics functions.

A Typical Day
Provide leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility.
Work closely with quality personnel to review product consistency while monitoring scrap rates to determine trends and areas of improvement.
Review established production schedules for all manufacturing departments to ensure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible.
Coordinate the hiring and training of all manufacturing personnel.
Monitor operation expenses and determine ways to reduce costs while maintaining product quality.
Work closely with the Environmental Health and Safety Manager to ensure legal compliance and ensure that all members of the manufacturing team are aware of safety regulations and policies to provide a safe workplace for our employees.
Manage inventory levels and control flow of product from all departments.
Analyze workforce requirements.
Conduct performance appraisals and provide coaching and guidance to all operations employees.
Encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement environment.
Remove production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals.
Engage with research and development, the technical and engineering departments as well as product management personnel to develop new products and strategies.
Work with and provide oversight to the purchasing manager to develop and improve supplier relationships.
Coordinate the relationship with union/shop stewards.

Minimum Qualification

Who You Are

• At least 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of 5 years in a key leadership/management role.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Operations/Engineering or related field.
• A business/commercial qualification will be advantageous
• Computer Literate – MS Office

• The position requires occasional overtime work, on alternate weekends and public holidays as per duty roster

• Ad-hoc national and international travel may be required from time to time
