Summary
The role of the EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) Manager is responsible for leadership and development of professional and administrative EHS staff ensuring all EHS programs, procedures, training, work practices and controls are effectively implemented for Pace assets. This position is responsible for identifying applicable EHS regulations and risks while interacting with Operations, HR, Accounting, Sales, and Corporate Health & Safety to implement acceptable systems to ensure compliance and conformance to EHS Policies and Management Systems and programs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote Pace’s EHS Excellence culture throughout the site.
  • Practice safe working techniques and re-enforce the EHS policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by Pace Industries.
  • Provide daily guidance and direction in EHS programs to the division President, managers, supervisors, and associates to ensure a common and effective approach.
  • Responsible for assisting in the identification of potential hazards and developing and implementing a plan to correct or prevent hazards and audit the plan to ensure its effectiveness.
  • Ensure that contractor personnel working on the property follow company policies and safety requirements.
  • Maintain and update as needed OSHA required programs and internal company programs and procedures.
  • Ensure all associates are held accountable for their EHS responsibilities.
  • Coordinate the sites training program to ensure new hire orientations, annual training and emergency response/evacuation training is conducted.
  • Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected.
  • Develop EHS committees and promote associate involvement.
  • Ensure monthly EHS inspections are completed, and any findings are resolves in a timely manner.
  • Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with the management of Workers’ Compensation claim activities.
  • Coordinate environmental regulatory programs and its applications and ensuring compliance of those programs and processes.
  • Accountable for researching and writing permit applications and work with environmental group and be compliant in completing permit reporting requirements.
  • Ensure all near-miss, band-aid book and recordable accidents are investigated including root cause analysis and implementation of effective corrective action.
  • Maintain filing systems regarding worker training and safety, utilizing the EHS software.
  • Provide monthly EHS reports to corporate office as required.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four-year college degree, plus 5 years related experience and/or training, and 4 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Advanced EHS Certification preferred First Aid/CPR Instructor preferred
  • Considerable responsibility about general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work, in addition, the work operations of a group of employees, all performing basically the same type of work.
  • Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance, either of which would affect the work operations of large organizational component and the organization’s clientele.
