EY-GDS Consulting-Health Architect
The opportunity
As a Health Architect, your primary responsibility is to ensure that the architectural vision is consistently adhered to throughout the project lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with both nearshore and offshore technical teams, as well as vendors and external partners, to deliver Healthcare Interoperability solutions that meet the stringent compliance requirements of the healthcare industry.
As a technical authority, you will assess, select, and recommend the most suitable software development technologies, tools, and platforms. You will also define software requirements and devise architectural plans that the development team can implement. You will serve as a liaison, communicating these requirements to other stakeholders such as project managers, scrum masters, product owners, business analysts, developers, and infrastructure or security architects. Part of your role includes providing training and contributing to business development efforts by supporting the creation of proposals and presentations that showcase our technical capabilities to prospective clients.
Required skills:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, (Software) Engineering or other related field with strong IT focus. Master’s or further certification are advantageous.
- Minimum of 6 years of working experience in a healthcare context
- Proven experience Developing and documenting architecture solutions for healthcare systems, including Electronic Health Records (EHR), Health Information Exchanges (HIE), and patient management systems.
- Deep understanding in designing scalable, secure, and interoperable solutions that align with healthcare standards and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, FHIR).
- Deep understanding to evaluate and recommend technology stacks, platforms, and tools that support organizational needs.
- Experience in designing architectures in healthcare system landscapes and ensuring interoperability between healthcare-specific data formats, e.g. HL7/FHIR, CCDA, EDI, openEHR.
- Experience with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP) with the ability to leverage cloud services for optimized application development and deployment.
- Deep experience in software architectures on all layers – network, infrastructure, security, persistence, application, and frontend in order to be able to effectively communicate with stakeholders.
- Cloud Platform Understanding – A working knowledge of cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure, with the ability to leverage cloud services for optimized application development and deployment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to design complex solutions.
Preferred skills:

- Good knowledge of the European healthcare system landscapes and reference architectures at hospitals, service providers, and/or health insurance companies, e.g. EHR, EMR, HIS, LIMS.
- A good overview of industry technology trends and emerging technologies (eg: AI/Gen AI ), understand how they apply to our healthcare clients and can drive their adoption into our projects.
- Experience in postgres and python will be a plus
- Good knowledge of (agile) project management standards, processes, procedures and guidelines as well as the related frameworks, e.g. Scrum or SAFe.
